What is Seattle Angel?

Seattle Angel provides an environment for any accredited investor to participate in early stage angel investing in the Pacific Northwest. Seattle Angel is a fresh approach to early-stage angel investing. Seattle Angel brings together new and experienced accredited investors living in greater Seattle and leverages their combined knowledge, resources, and experiences to find and fund early stage startups in the Pacific Northwest. Seattle Angel is a professional association with a different approach, focused on inclusiveness, informality, and collaboration. We are not an exclusive investors club. Rather, we welcome first-time investors and provide opportunities to learn, including collaboration with seasoned investors and investment workshops. We foster a culture that is a balance of professionalism and relaxed atmosphere.

Mission Statement

The mission of Seattle Angel is to grow the angel community in greater Seattle by creating an open environment where any accredited investor can participate in the investment of new startups. In pursuit of this objective, Seattle Angel targets three groups primarily – new angel investors, seasoned angel investors, and startup entrepreneurs.

Opportunity

Seattle Angel believes there is room for improvement in building the early stage investment community in Seattle, and we want to help make that happen. Despite its unique history and potential, Seattle routinely ranks behind other cities recommended to entrepreneurs seeking seed capital and a supportive environment for growth. That has sometimes led entrepreneurs to relocate their businesses elsewhere, closer to more established investment hubs. Seattle has a strong, growing, startup community, a rich pool of talented entrepreneurs, and a somewhat untapped resource of investment capital, both financially and experientially. Seattle Angel intends to be part of the solution for convincing entrepreneurs to build their companies in Seattle and for investors to invest here.

Scope & Process

Seattle Angel is focused on funding early stage startups based within a day’s drive of Seattle. We welcome new participants at any time either as an accredited investor interested in becoming a member of the Investors LLC for an upcoming Seattle Angel Conference, an entrepreneur interested in presenting at an upcoming conference, or any member of the community interested in attending. Seattle Angel believes in active participation. We work with entrepreneur applicants providing feedback, guidance, education, support, and information exchange through active due diligence and ongoing communication. Our members support and endorse entrepreneurship through their own startup businesses, through lean startup classes, meetups and events they organize, or simply through shared passion.

What is the Seattle Angel Conference?

The Seattle Angel Conference is a recurring Seattle Angel-driven event where the investors create an Investors LLC, engage in due diligence of the applying startup companies, and ultimately pool funds to invest in one of the presenting finalists. The Seattle Angel Conference is the primary method Seattle Angel uses to find and fund new startups. The Seattle Angel Conference is open to any member of the community interested in learning more about both starting and investing in a new business and to hear the investment pitches from our entrepreneur conference finalists.
